ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) has finally seen its DRAM modules enter the broader market. For months, the PC building community speculated that these new arrivals would be the budget saviors of the hardware world, expecting them to significantly undercut established brands in an aggressive bid to gain market share. Unfortunately, the early market data tells a much different story.
Instead of slashing prices, retail listings for CXMT DRAM modules are currently tracking right alongside the "big three" memory giants: Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron.
While having a new active player in the semiconductor space is a net positive for long-term supply chain stability and competition, it doesn't look like we'll be seeing bargain-bin RAM prices just yet.
